One day spring will come. And we’ll be ready, by golly.

We had a blizzard last Friday. Fourteen inches of fresh snow blew across our hilltop like it was shot through a pressure washer.

Then, believe it or not, 11 more inches of snow and another blizzard arrived four days later.

Spring Forward: A Comeback

I took an accidental seven-month hiatus from publishing blog posts. My website broke, I didn’t feel like dealing with it, Hubs fixed it, and voila! That about catches you up to speed.

But now we’re in a new season, a new ebb and flow of day-to-day living. We’re also in that sweet spot of the calendar where winter and spring duke it out continuously until spring finally becomes victorious.

Spring and Big House on a Little Prairie

I may make this observation every April, but it seemed like the cold was going to hang around forever, and the snow storms would just keep coming. This winter seemed so. long. Thankfully, the cold relented and gave way to spring.

We haven’t been in #bighouseonalittleprairie for quite a year, so I’m enjoying experiencing the seasons here for the first time. The onslaught of blackbirds this spring was a bit of a surprise, but I think we’ve all learned to tolerate each other for now. They’ll be gone soon enough and we’ll have our yard back to share with the robins, sparrows, and mourning doves. Continue reading “Spring and Big House on a Little Prairie”
